Who is the ALF?

Formed in the 70s, the ALF was born in order to challenge and resist widespread animal oppression through employing the use of direct action. They are a leaderless resistance, operating independently in numerous cells throughout the world. Typically, cells are created by like-minded individuals banding together to take action against those responsible for the abuse of animals.

From economic sabotage to liberations, the ALF follows a series of guidelines. The ALF guidelines are:

  1. To liberate animals from places of abuse, i.e. laboratories, factory farms, fur farms, etc, and place them in good homes where they may live out their natural lives, free from suffering.
  2. To inflict economic damage on those who profit from the misery and exploitation of animals.
  3. To reveal the horror and atrocities committed against animals behind locked doors, by performing non-violent direct actions and liberations.
  4. To take all necessary precautions against harming any animal, human and non-human.

The ALF is not a group per se. There are no membership lists and no leaders. Because their activity is illegal, ALF activists keep their involvement secret – from the public, their families, their friends, everyone in order to remain free and continue carrying out actions. Anyone carrying out an action according to the ALF guidelines can consider themselves an ALF activist.

Because the ALF operates anonymously, there is no way to aid actions before they happen. However, you can help create a culture of support for the ALF by donating to legal defense funds of those who have been arrested for ALF activity, writing to prisoners, and speaking out in support of direct action at every opportunity.

We at Unoffensive Animal are not affiliated with the ALF in any capacity. We do not partake in or seek to incite any illegal activity. We are a media outlet, posting news of reports as anonymous communiques are sent to us by underground groups. We do not partake in these actions ourselves, and we also hold no knowledge of the identities of such people that do.

If you would like to contact us or submit a hit report, please follow the instructions in our Contact Us section.

If you want to learn more about the ALF, the way they operate and how to take action you can read the ALF 3rd Primer here.

Because of the internet culture nowadays we believe that it is important to learn about internet security. For that reason, we would really advise you to read about it here.
